Take Back Control

When something goes wrong in your military career, it can be difficult to know what is happening, what it means, or what you should do next. Whether the issue is new, has been developing over time, or involves something already in your military record, you do not have to figure it out alone.

I can help you understand where you are, what is happening, what may come next, and what options you have so you can make informed decisions about how to move forward.

My Approach:

Understand the situation.

Before I can give you useful advice, I need to understand more than the document or allegation in front of you. I want to hear your story, understand your career, what has happened so far, what you know, what you do not know, and what you are most concerned about.

Sometimes that means I also need to ask questions on your behalf, communicate with command, investigators, agencies, or other people involved, and gather information so we can see the situation more clearly. The first step is often closing the information gap: understanding what process you are actually in, what decisions may already be underway, what deadlines matter, and where this could lead.

Build the right strategy.

Once we understand the situation, we can decide what we are actually trying to accomplish.

There is no single response that fits every military problem. Sometimes the right approach is to challenge an allegation, finding, or decision directly. Sometimes it is to develop additional evidence, explain important context, mitigate consequences, protect future options, repair the record, or prepare for another action that may follow.

I bring my experience with military law and the military system. You bring the facts, history, relationships, priorities, and goals that only you know. We use both to evaluate the options, think through the consequences, and build a strategy that makes sense for your circumstances and the larger career behind the immediate issue.

Put it into action.

A plan only matters if it is carried out well.

Once we know the objective, I get to work on your behalf. Depending on the matter, that may mean communicating with command or investigators, gathering records and evidence, conducting our own independent defense investigation, preparing written responses, challenging adverse findings or actions, presenting your case to decisionmakers, pursuing corrective relief, or preparing for the next stage of the process.

When you hire Helmsing Military Law, I remain the attorney working your matter. I know the history, I know the strategy we developed together, and I stay involved as the situation develops. I built my practice this way so I can give serious career-impacting matters the attention, continuity, and quality of representation they deserve.
